April Lavigne focuses on Estate Planning, including wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, and advanced health care directives; Trust and Estate Administration, including probate, trust administration, and trust litigation; Property Law, including real property tax reassessment and exemption issues; Contracts, Business and Corporate Law. She is known for attention to detail, exceptional client care, and straightforward legal advice.
Born and raised in San Diego, April has called Santa Barbara home since 1999. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, April joined the firm in 2005, and while working, completed UC Santa Barbara’s paralegal program with a specialization in estate planning.
While working with Reetz, Fox & Bartlett LLP, April graduated from Santa Barbara College of Law in 2011 earning a specialization in business law. During law school, April interned for the Goleta City Attorney’s Office. After a brief sabbatical to take the Bar Exam, April returned to the firm as a full time associate attorney in 2012. April’s extensive experience within the firm gives her a unique perspective on client needs, service, and case management.
In 2014, April became a member of ProVisors, an invitation-only, relationship-based organization for attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals, that allows its members to connect, collaborate, and share expertise within a vetted network of qualified resources. Since 2015, April has given numerous presentations on issues associated with estate planning, including: “Estate Planning: A Plan in Place When The Unthinkable Happens”; “Why you Need an Estate Plan”; “Preparing Your Estate Plan”; “Trusts & Estates: Buying & Selling Real Estate- What you need to know”; “Trusts are a Fiduciary Relationship”; and “Wills, Trusts, and Probate”.
April continues to grow her practice and community involvement. She is a member of the Santa Barbara County Adult Protective Services Multi-Disciplinary Team; the Junior League of Santa Barbara; and the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce.
